Alison Mac Cormaic

Drawing is central to my visual art practice. I translate drawings from life into mosaic results in image rich designs. My art is inspired by nature, surface pattern and the figure. Alison describes making mosaic as ‘drawing with tesserae’, and the placement of each piece creates lines taught with energy. My favourite mosaic material is Mexican smalti, a medium that allows colour combinations to sing.
